Our Technology

How it Works

Our hydrothermal process uses only heat, water, and air under controlled temperature and pressure.

It breaks down hazardous waste into harmless outputs, neutralising toxic compounds including persistent organic pollutants and “forever chemicals” like PFAS. No harmful emissions are generated.

Our Laboratory Advantage

Testing and optimisation take place at the University of Auckland’s Resource Recovery Analytical Laboratory.

This high-pressure, high-temperature facility allows us to process a wide range of waste samples, confirm complete destruction, and quantify recoverable outputs.

The in-house capability speeds up innovation and ensures compliance validation.

Capabilities

  • Treats complex waste, from cytotoxic pharmaceuticals to mixed hazardous industrial materials.
  • Offers multiple processing modes including HTD, HTC/HTL, and ATHP.
  • Produces stable, marketable platform chemicals such as acetic acid, along with clean water and recyclable solids.

Proprietary Products

Reactor Lining – LINQOR™

LINQOR™ is Nurox’s engineered internal lining designed to withstand extreme hydrothermal conditions and chemically aggressive waste streams.
With enhanced thermal resistance, zero leachate risk, and extended service life, LINQOR™ forms the protective core of every Nurox reactor, delivering unmatched reliability, safety, and longevity under pressure.

Catalyst – OXYTHERM™

OXYTHERM™ is Nurox’s proprietary oxidation catalyst, developed to accelerate the breakdown of persistent organic pollutants under hydrothermal conditions.
Tuned for efficiency across a wide pH and contaminant range, OXYTHERM™ enables faster reaction times, higher destruction rates, and cleaner outputs, maximising plant performance at minimal dosage.

Environmental Advantages

No harmful atmospheric emissions.

No secondary waste creation.

High energy efficiency with potential heat recovery.
